SYDNEY, 12 August, 2005 – Global investment and superannuation specialist, Russell Investment Group, has announced that Andrew Lill will take on the role of Director of Investment Consulting for their Australian operations. This announcement follows the decision by David Hartley to take on a more ‘hands on’ investment management position with Sunsuper, one of Russell's major investment consulting clients.
Russell Investment Consulting is one of Australia ’s leading investment advisors with $80bn in Australian sourced assets under advice for large institutional investors. Globally Russell's investment consulting business continues to lead the financial services industry with the 2005 Annual Report of Pension Fund Consultants showing Russell ranked No.1 in total assets.
Mr Stephen Roberts, Russell’s Managing Director Institutional Investment Services, said “ Andrew's appointment is an exciting step in the evolution of Russell's Investment Consulting services in Australia . Over the past two years our focus has been on expanding the breadth and depth of our investment consulting services, reinforcing Russell's position as Australia 's most established global investment consultant. During this time we have expanded the team to include a specialist alternative asset and strategy research group as well as a capital markets research group.”
The specialist asset and strategy research group is responsible for identifying implementation strategies for global and Australian private equity and infrastructure, as well as global multi strategy hedge fund-of-funds and timber, oil and gas. The announcement follows the decision by David Hartley to leave Russell to take up the Chief Investment Officer position with Sunsuper, a move he has made to return to a role that allows him to be more actively involved with the implementation of investment strategy. David Hartley joined Russell as Director of Investment Consulting in 2003.
Mr Roberts said, “ We would also like to take this opportunity to thank David for his important contribution in steering Russell's investment consulting team over the past two years. As Sunsuper is a client of Russell’s we look forward to continuing to work with David, and wish him all the best in his new role. David leaves a high caliber investment consulting team in place at Russell.” David Hartley will finish up at Russell in early September.
