Russell’s Transition Management Service Achieves Top Rankings in Industry Surveys
SYDNEY, 19 June, 2008 - Russell Investments has earned several industry-leading rankings in the 2008 transition management surveys sponsored by Plan Sponsor magazine and Global Investor magazine. By honouring Russell with numerous “Best in Class” and “Top Marks” awards, the industry has recognised the firm’s global capabilities, focus on risk management and client service, and interim investment management approach.
Russell won “Best in Class” awards in all four categories in the Plan Sponsor magazine results and won 11 total awards, placing in the top three for transition management providers. For two specific client groups – Investment Managers/Mutual Funds/Insurance and Non-U.S. – Russell swept the “Best in Class” awards across all four categories – pre-trade, execution, post-trade and organisation/support.
Several trends are shaping the transition management business and are placing emphasis on critical elements of the transition management process. Volatile market conditions underscore the need for a higher level of risk management, increased international holdings highlight the importance of truly global capabilities and the growing reliance on futures and derivatives call for the most sophisticated understanding of how to manage assets in transition.
John Moore, Director of Implementation Services at Russell Investments, Australasia said that the awards highlight Russell’s ongoing commitment to provide the best transition management services for clients. “Russell understands that no two transitions are the same, so we work hard to ensure that our transition processes are tailored to clients’ specific needs, and are completely transparent to achieve ‘best execution’ for optimal total returns. The awards give us some reassure that we are delivering on our commitment to provide clients with the high level of service that they’ve come to expect from Russell’s transition management teams around the world.” Mr Moore said.
In Australia, transition management is one of a number of services offered by Russell’s Implementation Services group, which helps clients improve their net investment returns by providing efficient implementation tools to multimanager portfolios. Other services include overlay services, commission management, agency currency execution, interim portfolio management, return-enhancing derivatives strategies (such as portable alpha) and short term investment funds. Russell’s portfolio management and transition services teams operate worldwide with offices in Tacoma, London and Sydney.
Russell also recently received “Top Marks” in every category – for the fourth year in a row – in a transition management survey sponsored by Global Investor magazine. In total, Russell transition management has received 135 industry awards over the past four years.
For more than 25 years, Russell has been at the forefront of improving and innovating transition management practices and techniques, leading the development of the T Standard as an objective performance measurement to aid clients in assessing a transition manager’s performance. Russell continues to set the mark for delivering on T Standard-compliant investment performance of assets in transition.
