Peter Burnett is the National Sales Development Manager within the Retail Investor Services team at Russell Investment Group.
In this role, Peter is responsible for developing and securing new business opportunities for Russell in the retail marketplace. This requires Peter to work closely with dealer groups, platform providers and other third parties.
Peter joined Russell in September 2004 in the role of State Manager, responsible for the Victorian and Tasmanian regions. In this role he was responsible for working with Russell's existing distribution partners to assist in business growth and, during this time, Peter built strong relationships with financial advisers and dealer groups in the area.
After spending two and a half successful years in this role, and building an energetic, dynamic and adviser-focused business development team in the region, Peter broadened his focus and moved into the national role in May 2007.
Over the past 15 years in the Financial Services industry, Peter has gained extensive experience working both as a financial planner and with financial planners.
Prior to joining Russell Peter was a Business Development Manager at AXA Australia where he successfully grew a client base over a four year period. He achieved Number 1 BDM ranking for Victoria and Number 2 nationally.
Previously Peter was employed with Citibank for 4 years. He was initially based in the Gold Coast as a Financial Adviser and transferred to Brisbane. His performance results led him to be relocated to Melbourne as a Financial Planner. After a short period Peter was transferred back to Queensland where he successfully established the Investment Centre in Brisbane. Peter first began his financial career after serving in the Australian Army.
