Russell Investment Consulting launches risk advisory service for institutional investors

• Russell's Consulting & Advisory Services strengthened with appointment of Dr. Thomas Gillespie as Director, Risk Advisory

SYDNEY, August 17, 2011 - Global financial services firm Russell Investments has today launched a new risk advisory service within its investment consulting business to help institutional investors better identify, measure and manage risk. To lead and develop the new service, Russell also today announced the appointment of Thomas Gillespie as Director, Risk Advisory. Dr. Gillespie will be based in Russell's Sydney office, working with existing and new clients to establish and implement industry best practice risk management.

Dr. Gillespie brings over 20 years' experience in risk strategy and joins Russell from the Australian Reward Investment Alliance (ARIA), where his most recent role was Head of Risk. Dr. Gillespie has also held senior positions at Citigroup and JB Were.

According to Managing Director, Consulting & Advisory Services Greg Liddell, Dr Gillespie's appointment is consistent with Russell's commitment to providing depth of expertise to advisory clients.

Whether its risk, governance, after-tax investing or manager due diligence clients want advice from experienced subject matter experts. As with our recent appointment of Dr. Jerome Lander as Director of Investment Consulting, Tom's appointment is consistent with our preference for industry thought leaders with practical investment experience."

Russell has also promoted Karolina Bowler to the role of Senior Consultant within its investment consulting division. The new hires bring Russell's Australian consulting and advisory team to 18 and the global team to 66 associates.

Russell Consulting provides investment advice on more than $2 trillion worth of assets globally. Among its client base are many of the world's most prominent investment institutions including AT&T, Toyota and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
