Community involvement
Associate empowerment, corporate giving
Philanthropy is basic to Russell's corporate responsibility around the world. Associates who are involved in the community are the face of Russell where we work and live, and our philanthropic approach is marked by associate empowerment. You might find Russell associates contributing their time to mentor young people, collecting clothes for homeless families or providing guidance to charitable organizations as Board members.
Russell's unique Matching Gifts program encourages associates worldwide to give of their time and talent to serve community needs and matches contributions of dollars and time in many locations in which we operate. In the U.S., Russell matches dollar-for-dollar associates' personal gifts to tax-exempt organizations up to $2,500 per person each year. Many Russell associates volunteer their time in support of their communities, so Russell also matches volunteer hours at the rate of $200 for 25 hours, to a maximum of 50 hours or $400.
Recently, we launched our Focused Giving initiative to address pressing needs in our global community in two areas: financial literacy and children. We chose these areas because of global need, associate interest, and alignment with Russell's Purpose and Values. Russell associates around the world help identify charitable causes and organizations that either promote financial literacy, help children or both.
Russell also makes awards in the areas of Arts and Culture, Education, Health and Human Services or Civic Engagement around the world.
