Pacific Northwest living
What does your world look like?

If you're living in the Pacific Northwest, your world looks full of opportunities. Whether you're drawn by its famous natural beauty, the vibrant arts and culture, sports and recreation or community focus, the greater Seattle-Tacoma area has something for you.
Natural beauty
Surrounded by water and mountains, the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area offers stunning views to its residents. To the west of Seattle, the Olympic Mountains rise up with snow-capped peaks. To the east, the Cascade mountain range runs the length of the state. The awesome height of Mount Rainier is truly appreciated when seen towering over skyscrapers from within the city.
These views open the door to many exciting recreational activities throughout the year. The area abounds in outdoor enthusiasts, offering year round hiking and bicycling opportunities. In the winter, good skiing can be reached from within 30 minutes of downtown Seattle or Tacoma.
On the Puget Sound, Washington State Ferry boats come and go, providing easy and scenic access to our many islands and the Olympic Peninsula. The Sound and our many lakes offer prime opportunities for whale watching, kayaking, sightseeing, and boating of all kinds.
Perhaps the natural beauty and our local affinity for nature are why Seattle consistently ranks as one of the most sustainable cities in the United States.
Arts & culture
The Pacific Northwest region has long been synonymous with arts and culture. Opportunities to create and appreciate art are almost too numerous to name. The region offers many venues to enjoy: Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Symphony and the Seattle Opera, to name only a few.
Did you know that the Seattle/Tacoma area is home to the highest number of glassblowing studios outside of Venice, Italy? For a true glass-art experience, you need not leave Tacoma, home of Russell Investment Group headquarters. Tacoma's Museum of Glass is linked to the Tacoma Art Museum by the Dale Chihuly Bridge of Glass, a brilliant example of how outdoor art is appreciated here.
Diverse opportunities for live theatre and live music abound. The annual Seattle International Film Festival is the largest in North America, showcasing more than 400 films from over 60 countries. Sasquatch Music Festival and Bumbershoot are just a few of the significant arts and music festivals in the Northwest.
Sports
Whatever your sport, the Seattle/Tacoma region has something for you. The Seattle Mariners, led by the famous Japanese star, Ichiro, host major league baseball at Safeco Field. Next door is Qwest Field, home of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. Two professional basketball teams, the Sonics (NBA) and the Seattle Storm (WNBA), play at the Key Arena near the Seattle Center.
Business
The greater Seattle area is a world class business center, home to Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Amazon.com and other dynamic companies that are changing the way the world does business.
Community
The Puget Sound region is one of active, involved communities, quality public and private schools, and a wealth of top-rated healthcare facilities. Seattle offers a quality of life that's hard to top, and is regularly selected as one the top cities to live in the United States.
