Russell Hires New Director of Relationship Management To Enhance Value-Added Institutional Services
Gerry Lillis to focus on innovative, tailored solutions for clients

TACOMA, Wash. September 21, 2004 Russell Investment Group hired Gerry Lillis to serve as director of relationship management in the firm's Institutional Investment Services group. In this newly created role, Lillis is responsible for development of strategic, full-service solutions for some of Russell's larger clients.
Russell's Institutional Investment Services group works with some of the largest corporate retirement plans, public pensions, endowments, foundations and other organizations.
Lillis, who is based in Russell's New York office, has extensive investment and institutional client experience from his 24-year career at J.P. Morgan and Company.
"Gerry offers an extremely strong set of skills that are well suited for the complex issues that our large, institutional clients face," said Paul Reynolds, managing director and head of Russell's institutional business. "He has a particularly strong track record working as a fiduciary to bring sophisticated solutions to these organizations."
Reynolds added that Lillis will contribute to clients in three primary ways:
| |
- Relationship management: Lillis will work with clients' senior-level investment professionals to achieve their investment goals by providing tailored Russell solutions that include advice, implementation of investment strategy, research and investments.
- Product development: As a key member of the institutional management team Lillis will draw on his extensive background in investment product development to offer ideas, innovation and client-focused solutions.
- Alternative investments: Lillis will work closely with clients on implementation of alternative investment strategies, including private equity and hedge funds.

"The creation of this position further demonstrates Russell's commitment to continuously deliver added value to clients," said Reynolds. "We're always looking ahead to anticipate future client needs and challenges because success in today's institutional market requires much more than traditional investment recommendations and services."
During Lillis' tenure at J.P. Morgan, he held a variety of investment and leadership roles. Most recently, he ran Morgan's asset management businesses in Asia and, after the Morgan/Chase merger in 2000, he integrated the new firm's operations in Japan. Earlier, from 1996 to 1999, he served as Head of U.S. Fixed Income. From 1990 to 1996, he applied his credit and corporate finance background to Morgan's institutional fixed income business by first expanding Morgan's corporate and mortgage private investment practice, and subsequently building a global credit research function and designing multi-sector high yield products.
Lillis reports to Bryan Weeks, managing director of institutional relationship management.
"Throughout his career, Gerry has developed extensive knowledge of the needs of large, global institutional investors and has a proven track record of expanding client relationships through creative solutions," Weeks said. "He now has the breadth of Russell's extensive advisory and investment offerings to help him deliver added value, and we're enthusiastic about what that means for Russell's clients."
