Russell Expands Alternative Investment Group; Hires Director to Focus on East Coast Clients

Tacoma, WA — June 5, 2006 — Russell Investment Group has hired Russell O'Brien as director, alternative investments, for the east coast region. Based in New York City, O'Brien will help lead Russell's U.S. institutional investor services business development efforts as the company responds to increasing demand for its growing outsourcing platform of alternative investment products including private equity, hedge funds and real estate.

"Russell O'Brien has a significant track record of business and client development in the investment management business and we're excited to have someone with his 20 years of insight on board," said Peter Fink, director, alternative investments. "His vast experience with public funds, corporations, endowments and foundations, along with his knowledge of the broad range of investment solutions that clients demand, makes him a key contributor as we strive to bring the best investment advice and solutions to our clients."

Most recently O'Brien was director, head of sales and marketing, for Credit Suisse's transition management business. Previously he was managing director at David L. Babson & Co. where he was responsible for sales in a large part of the U.S. and Europe. He also served in various leading institutional sales positions for State Street Global Advisors and worked for Lehman Brothers developing its 401(k) business. O'Brien has a B.A. from Tufts University and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
