Russell client conference highlights top institutional issues
Plan sponsors and E&F attendees consider the next generation of asset allocation strategies, including EAA and LRAA, and other strategies for diversification and risk management

Tacoma, WA — October 12, 2009 — More than 120 plan sponsors and endowment and foundation (E&F) representatives from across North America attended the 2009 Russell Investments Institutional Summit held October 5 and 6 and left the conference armed with the firm's latest thinking and actionable strategies that will enable them to take a step back from the market turmoil of the last 18 months and begin to answer the question, "Now What?"

At the conference, Russell introduced Enhanced Asset Allocation (EAA), a suite of innovative services that seeks to identify significant unsustainable movements in the market and then outline a path for investors to potentially increase investment returns while managing for risk and liquidity. Additionally, Russell met with clients implementing Liability Responsive Asset Allocation (LRAA), a dynamic approach introduced earlier this year that ties a pension fund's investment policy to changes in liabilities and funded status.

Over the course of two days, keynote sessions and break-out discussions touched on a variety of other timely and relevant topics, including: defined contribution, risk, active management, fixed income, liability-driven investing, diversification and real assets.
