What is super?
Superannuation (super) is basically a long-term savings program introduced by the Government primarily to provide income to individuals in retirement.
In Australia, superannuation investments receive special tax concessions that are not available to other types of investments. Since the government introduced “Choice of Fund” on 1 July 2005, you have more options about where your super can be paid.
Your super is likely to be one of your biggest assets in retirement so the choices you make today could have a significant impact on the lifestyle you’ll have when you retire.
