Russell is focused on creating a work environment that promotes a balance between associates' personal and professional lives. Pursuing a challenging, rewarding career while prioritizing family and other interests is considered the "norm" at Russell. Our purpose of Improving Financial Security for People is reflected in our philosophy that associates and their families come before clients.

A sampling of benefits and activities that promote balanced lifestyles:

  • 17 days of vacation for all full-time associates, pro-rated for new hires during the first calendar year of employment.

  • 22 days of vacation at the end of 4 years of service.

  • 27 days of vacation at the end of 14 years.

  • Eight weeks of paid sabbatical leave for all full-time associates after each 10 years of service.

  • Family sick-leave: Associates may use their accrued sick-leave to care for sick family members.

  • Education assistance: After one year of service, associates are eligible for reimbursement of 90 percent of tuition, registration, books and other enrollment fee expenses for qualifying courses and programs, up to a maximum of $8,000 per associate on an annual basis.

  • Professional certifications: Russell provides financial support for associates' job-related professional certifications, including CFAs and other designations.

  • A short-term disability benefit, renewable every 12 months, that covers U.S. associates for up to 45 calendar days immediately upon hire, and up to 90 days based on years of service.

  • A new parent pay policy that offers U.S. associates, after one year of service, who are primary caregivers two weeks of pay for the birth or adoption of a child. Associates who are secondary caregivers are eligible for one week of pay.

  • An adoption benefit pays 80 percent of all adoption-related costs, up to $8,000 per adopted child. The adoption must be finalized after completing one year of service.

  • Fitness allowance: For U.S. associates, Russell provides an annual allowance of $725 to cover the cost of qualifying fitness programs or memberships.


  • Volunteer opportunities: You might find Russell associates contributing their time to mentor young people, collecting clothes for homeless families or providing guidance to charitable organizations as Board members. Russell's unique Matching Gifts program encourages associates worldwide to give of their time and talent to serve community needs and matches contributions of dollars and time in many locations in which we operate. In the U.S., Russell matches associates' personal gifts to tax-exempt organizations up to $2,500 per person each year. Volunteer hours are also matched at the rate of $200 for 25 hours, to a maximum of 50 hours or $400.


  • Esprit de corps events, including picnics, annual parties, wine tastings, parties surrounding sporting events, and more! Spouses, partners and families are often invited.


  • Bereavement leave: Up to five days paid bereavement are granted in the event of the death of an immediate family member, including spouse, domestic partner, child, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or significant other.
