Russell Europe SMID 300 Index
Speed matters.

Traditionally, trading in the European small- and mid-cap (SMID) segments has been challenging, especially at high-trade sizes. This is largely due to the relative illiquidity of the individual stocks.
Indexes in these segments were anecdotally reported as having investment capacity problems and other design issues, resulting in the poor establishment of tradable products such as index-based swaps.
The Russell Europe SMID 300 Index
To help overcome these challenges the Russell Europe SMID 300 Index was launched in March 2012 by Russell Indexes, pioneers and creators of the Russell 2000® Index.
The index is the first of its kind it contains the 300 most rapidly tradable constituents from the SMID opportunity set in developed Europe. It was designed with considerable input from the trading community to ensure ease of use within the trading environment.
What's different?
Speed to trade.
The index is built to minimise the length of time it takes to trade a basket of stocks that replicates the index constituents and their weights.
Lower implementation costs.
The quicker the speed to trade, the lower the implementation costs, market impact risk and volatility exposure.
A platform for investable products.
The Index serves as a reliable and efficient basis for ETFs, OTC swaps and other structured products.
Broad and accurate representation.
Constituent securities of the index represent a broad range of market capitalisation from the Russell Developed Europe SMID Index, rather than concentrating on the largest.
