U.S. Corporate Grant Guidelines 2008

Russell Investments shares the success of our business with the communities where we work by supporting non-profit agencies that advance the well-being of the people who live there.

Overview
We will accept proposals from communities where Russell does business, with a priority on organizations in Pierce and King Counties in Washington State. Organizations requesting support must qualify for non-profit, tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Gifts are usually in the $3,000 to $10,000 range and must be used exclusively for the purpose stated in the request. Russell uses a standard application form to assure proposals contain all necessary information.

In the Corporate Giving program, Russell will consider applications for project or operating support in the areas of education, health and human services, arts and culture and civic improvement.

New in 2008
In order for Corporate Giving Committee members to make more meaningful decisions, we will be reviewing applications in each granting area only once each year. Organizations will only have one opportunity to apply. The schedule is below.

Procedure
Organizations seeking support should first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). Russell will then invite full applications from agencies whose work most closely fits our community involvement goals. The Letter of Inquiry should be no more than two pages and should include:

  • 1-2 paragraphs about the organization, including mission, brief history, major programs or achievements, and total operating budget.
  • What are the goals and desired outcomes of this program?
  • How will it be implemented?
  • By what measures will you know you've succeeded?
  • Who else are you partnering with and what roles will they play?
  • What is the program budget and amount you would like Russell to consider supporting?
  • Name of Director and full information for a key contact (phone, mail, email, website).

Please mail Letter of Inquiry to:

Community Development Manager
