Hal Strong Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer   B.A., German, University of California at Berkeley, 1975 M.B.A., Finance, University of Washington, 1981 Hal Strong is chief operating officer and chief financial officer for Russell Investment Group. He assumed the role of chief operating officer in 2007. Hal has an extensive background in alternative investments and continues to oversee Russell's private equity investment activities. In addition, Hal is chief financial officer for Russell, with responsibility for Russell's global finances. Hal is a member of Russell's executive and management committees. Before his appointment as chief financial officer, Hal was president and managing director of Russell's alternative investments group, responsible for private equity, real estate, and hedge funds. Hal founded this group in 1995. Hal joined Russell in 1990 as head of investment banking. In this role, he led Russell's efforts to provide mergers and acquisitions services to financial institutions and money managers worldwide. Previous to his work at Russell, Hal worked in the investment banking industry, as managing director, corporate finance, with Piper, Jaffray & Hopwood in Seattle, and as a corporate finance associate with Salomon Brothers in New York.
